California's Central Coast Fossils of the Late Miocene The layer of sediment I spend the majority of my time collecting fossils in is called the "Santa Margarita Sandstone" layer in Central California. www.cretaceousfossils.com It is a reference website on info and identification of fossils from North America (and around the world).  Although we created the site, our success is built on fellow fossil collectors who contribute photographs and information.
