Bower Power's Farm

Just outside of Pierrepont, New York, the Bower Power's Farm offers an excellent array of treasures for Rockhounders. Parking is accessible for passenger cars, but it requires a walk of several hundred yards with all of your gear. A fee of $10.00 for an entire day makes this a worthwhile adventure. This is a well-known site in the area with many starter digs left by previous enthusiasts.

We joined two Rockhounders already examining a run they discovered. While one gentleman worked the visible end of a small vein, the other began an excavation about where he anticipated finding the other end of it. The result was several fine smaller specimens and two healthy matrix pieces.

These images were taken at one of the many locations on the Bower Power's Farm site. As digging goes, the soil and arrangement of rock matrixes makes for an enjoyable day or two of treasure hunting.
